Honeywell Premiers Next Generation of Boosting Technologies at Vienna Motor Symposium

Honeywell offers innovative technologies to help carmakers achieve better performance, fuel economy and enjoyable driving experiences

VIENNA, Austria – Apr. 28, 2016 Honeywell (NYSE:HON), the leading global developer of automotive turbochargers, is showcasing its new boosting innovations and software solutions for gasoline, diesel and hydrogen fuel cells at the Vienna Motor Symposium 2016. Honeywell’s electric boosting technologies are helping to extract more from the latest generation engines, enabling new levels of vehicle performance, fuel efficiency and emissions reductions for conventional combustion engines, hybrid engines and even fuel cell vehicles.

Honeywell will present leading innovations in diesel turbocharging and two world premiers of technology hardware in the gasoline and electric boosting segments, including:

  • TwoStage Electric Compressor for Fuel Cells: an electric motor-driven compressor with oil-less foil bearing to boost fuel cells and increase their power output or reduce fuel cell stack volume, weight and cost.
  • Variable Nozzle Turbine (VNT) Turbo for ECO Gasoline applications: an enabler for heavy millerization which offers outstanding low end torque and fuel economy from a Gasoline engine.

Honeywell believes in offering a no compromise solution for car manufacturers through its innovative technologies and by leveraging its already considerable experience with electric boosting solutions, which currently includes active motorsport programs in Formula One and other global race series. Through unique engineering expertise as part of Honeywell Aerospace, we continue to develop sustainable transportation solutions for the 21st century.
